All events are open to Young Adults entering Gr. 6-12 unless otherwise noted.

Register starting June 18th and get your Summer Reading Record. Every time you bring in your Reading Record, we’ll count the books you read or listen to. Also, if you volunteer or attend one of our teen or youth programs, we will count this time on your record! Choose from book prizes at the end of the summer program.
Fri. June 13, 6:30pm — Teen Movie, “Arachnophobia” - Eight legs, two fangs and an attitude. South American killer spider hitches a lift to the US in a coffin and starts to breed and kill. Rated PG-13, Free Popcorn and Soda. Hosted by the Teen Advisory Board.
Wed. June 18, 9am to 9pm — Metamorphosis Summer Program Registration – Come in and sign-up for our engaging summer programs for Young Adults. Also pick up your summer reading records.
Wed. June 18, 3:30pm — Middle School Booklover’s Club — Come chat with Kat about whatever book you’re reading right now and have some snacks too! For Gr. 5-8.
Thurs. June 19, 3pm — Reading Buddies Teen Mentor Training — Teens who want to pair up with Book Buddies will meet to learn how to choose books with kids and how to encourage them to read. Book Buddies will meet on Mondays 2-3pm starting on June 23rd. For students entering Gr. 9-12.
Wed. June 25, 3:30-5:15pm – You are cordially invited: Anne of Green Gables Centennial High Tea. We’re inviting the author to return from the “other side” and hope she’ll make an appearance in honor of the 100th anniversary of the publication of Anne of Green Gables June 13, 1908. Reading & treats followed by:

Thurs. July 3, 3pm — Teen Advisory Board — For teens, by teens. If you’re a teenager, come. Plan programs you’d like to see. Snacks! New members welcome.
Thurs. July 10, 3:30pm — High School Book Lust Pizza Club — Bring a book you have recently read to show the group. All high schoolers welcome.
Fri. July 11, 6:30pm — Teen Movie, “Juno” - A comedy about growing up... and the bumps along the way. Faced with an unplanned pregnancy, an offbeat young woman makes an unusual decision regarding her unborn child. Rated PG-13 Free Popcorn and Soda. Hosted by the TAB . ***Special Post-Show discussion about the issues brought up in the movie!***
Tues. July 22, 3:30pm — Middle School Book Lover’s Club-Come chat with Kat about whatever book you’re reading right now and have some snacks too! Entering Gr.5-8.
Tues. July 29 through Fri. August 1, 1-4pm each afternoon — ”Identibugs” Sculpture Workshop with Tina Logan — Using recycled materials and insect inspiration, create metamorphosis artwork! Entering Gr. 6-12. Limit 15 people.
Fri. August 1, 6:30pm — Vampire Party — Explore the Vampire world through Vampire movies, bloody treats, and an evening of fangs and fun!
Mon. August 4, 6:30pm — Teen Makeover Evening with Red Clover Salon — Come and learn how to look your best with the Independent Stylists at the Red Clover Salon. Enjoy refreshments and experience your own metamorphosis. Limit 15. *This event will be held at Red Clover Salon, 20 Lincoln Street, Essex Junction.

Fri. August 8, 3:30pm — Luna Book Talk — Join the discussion of this GMBA nominated book by Julie Anne Peterson about gender identity and exploration. Copies of the text will be available at the Youth Desk during the month of July. If you haven’t read the book, come discuss these important issues anyway! We want to hear your voices. Entering Gr. 8 and up.
Fri. August 8, 6:30pm — Teen Movie, “Spiderman 3” - A strange black entity from another world bonds with Peter Parker and causes inner turmoil as he contends with new villains, temptations, and revenge. Rated PG-13. Free popcorn and soda. Sponsored by TAB.
Mon. August 11, 6:30pm — Yoga for Teens — Join yoga practitioner, Gaby Goldberg as she teaches postures, movements and breathing techniques to students entering Gr. 6-12. Mats provided. Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Limit 15.

Reading Buddies — Mondays June 23, June 30, July 7, July 14, July 21, and a final party at the Teddy Bear Picnic on July 28! 2-3pm - Kids in Gr. K-5 read to Teen Mentors. Sign up in advance.

Chess for Kids – Partner with eager chess enthusiasts and help them develop their chess skills. We provide the chess sets & you provide the strategy. Wednesdays, 2-3pm, June 25, July 2, July 9, July 16, July 23!
Creative Drama Series — Looking for teens who are excited about being creative and having fun exploring the worlds of story books with kids! Help implement drama games and creative journeys! Thursdays, 2-3pm, June 26 (Miss Spider’s Tea Party), July 3 (The Leaf Men and the Brave Good Bugs), July 10(Martina the Beautiful Cockroach), July 17(Max’s Words)! Call 878-6956 to help out!
Movie Nights — Help set up for the Friday night movies. Pop popcorn, pour soda, run the projector. Free popcorn and soda. Fridays, June 13, June 27, July 11, July 25, August 8, and August 22, at 6:30pm.
Origami Insects – Thurs. June 19, 4-4:45pm – Come learn the Japanese art of paper-folding, and create a grasshopper, cicada, ladybug and butterfly to take home. Help students entering Gr. 2-6 develop their origami skills!
