Summer Rolls Along with the Help of Young Adults!

Whew! What a busy summer at the Brownell! This summer has seen a LOT of programs FOR teens and programs HOSTED BY teens.

Our Reading Buddies Program pairs teen mentors with younger readers. Buddy/mentor pairs pick out books and read together for 1/2 hour reading sessions.

Teen Volunteers run our Chess for Kids Program and help kids grades 4-8 hone their strategies for checkmating their opponent! The competition has been stiff this year!

In addition, our Teen and Family Movie nights (Hosted by the Teen Advisory Board) have had a Mystery Theme this summer. We've shown: Clue: The Movie, Hoodwinked, Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds, and Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. Later in the summer we'll show: Murder on the Orient Express and Holes.

Highschoolers and Middleschoolers have each enjoyed chatting about what they're reading in our pizza/book clubs. Our Teen Advisory Board has been working hard to plan events and our Teen Volunteers have also been working hard to make sure events run smoothly! TAB Members and Volunteers will be rewarded at the end of the summer with a Summer Mystery Party afterhours in the library...... look for pictures soon!
